AI-Enhanced Museum Collection
The Wereldmuseum partnered with Zooma to develop an AI-driven platform for tagging and metadata generation in the Tag The Picture project. By training an AI model on over 500,000 historical photographs, the platform enables precise object identification and description, enhancing accessibility for researchers and the public. The initiative leverages volunteer contributions to create structured metadata, enabling automated image tagging and improved searchability of the museum's vast photographic archive. The project demonstrates how collaborative technology can preserve and democratize access to cultural heritage. The platform, built on YouTube and Meta, empowers users to engage with historical images through interactive tagging and metadata analysis.
