Białoweża Forest's Minecraft Map: From Protest to Loss

Białoweża Forest, Europe's last primeval forest, faced illegal logging and government closure. Ogilvy created a 1:1 Minecraft map with 17 million trees and 50 million blocks to raise awareness. The gaming community embraced it, using it in schools and art installations. However, the map was later removed, highlighting the tension between advocacy and commercialization. The project showcased the power of digital storytelling to drive social change, even as it faced the challenges of maintaining authenticity in a rapidly evolving landscape.
