First Car-Showroom in El Salvador: Innovation on Public Transport
In El Salvador, public buses serve as both transportation and commerce hubs, where local merchants sell fruits, vegetables, and jewelry to captive audiences. Ogilvy El Salvador, in partnership with Excel El Salvador and KIA, launched the first car-showroom inside a bus, addressing the unique challenge of selling vehicles in public transport. The initiative blends commerce with mobility, offering a novel space for customers to test drive cars while enjoying the convenience of public transit. This innovative concept highlights the potential of repurposing urban spaces to foster local economic activity and consumer engagement. The project successfully demonstrated the viability of integrating automotive sales into public transport, with over 100 cars sold within the first month. By leveraging the existing infrastructure of buses, the initiative showcased how local businesses can adapt to evolving consumer preferences. The success of this case study underscores the importance of creative solutions in urban planning and the power of collaboration between technology, retail, and transportation sectors to drive innovation and economic growth.
