State of Geneva: Oracle & Telon Chatbot for Election Results
The State of Geneva partnered with Oracle and Telon to develop a Facebook Messenger chatbot that provided election results. Launched on April 15, 2018, the bot met its goals by answering queries from Facebook users. The project demonstrated the potential of chatbots in civic engagement, with Christopher Larraz and Gilles Barthelet highlighting the success of the initiative. The experiment also led to further exploration of bot technology within the Canton of Geneva. In the summer of 2017, Olivier Leclère, the Information Organization Advisor, created a chatbot that later became the foundation for Landmanbot, a Facebook Messenger bot announcing election results. The collaboration with SQLI, Oracle, and Telon showcased the power of technology in enhancing public services and civic participation.
