Jumbo's Inclusive Webshop Transformation: Accessibility & Usertesting

Jumbo embarked on a comprehensive journey to enhance the accessibility of their webshop, partnering with Level Level to conduct rigorous audits and user testing. Using WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines, their website and app, including ‘Werken bij Jumbo’, were thoroughly evaluated for compliance. Key improvements included enhanced color contrast and keyboard navigation, while a dark mode test was implemented to ensure usability for visually impaired users. Level Level facilitated six user tests with individuals experiencing visual impairments, providing actionable insights for further refinements. The initiative aimed to expand reach to millions of Dutch users with learning disabilities or visual sensitivities. By prioritizing accessibility, Jumbo not only met legal standards but also drove increased engagement, improved search visibility, and fostered loyalty among their diverse customer base. The project exemplified how inclusive design can transform digital experiences, ensuring equitable access for all users.
